Mild Chicken Tikka Masala
A flavorful Indian dish featuring marinated chicken cooked in a mild, creamy tomato sauce, perfect for the whole family without any spicy elements.
Ingredients
- 500g chicken breast, diced
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon garam masala
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 inch ginger, grated
- 1 can (400g) crushed tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- Salt to taste
- 1/2 cup coconut milk
- Fresh coriander for garnish
Method
- In a bowl, combine yogurt, lemon juice, garam masala, cumin, coriander, and diced chicken. Marinate for at least 30 min, preferably in the fridge.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent.
- Add minced garlic and grated ginger, cooking for an additional 1-2 min until fragrant.
- Stir in the marinated chicken and cook until browned on all sides.
- Add crushed tomatoes and sugar to the pan, stirring well. Season with salt.
- Simmer for about 15 min, allowing the chicken to cook through.
- Pour in coconut milk, stirring until combined. Heat through for another 5 min.
- Garnish with fresh coriander before serving.
Notes
- Serve with rice or naan, avoiding any spicy sides.
