Chinese Garlic Prawn Lettuce Wraps
Fresh and light Chinese-inspired starter featuring juicy prawns, garlic, and a crunchy lettuce wrap.
Ingredients
- 300g raw prawns, peeled and deveined
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 head of iceberg lettuce, leaves separated
- 1 small cucumber, diced
- 1 red bell pepper, diced
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh coriander (optional)
Method
- Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add the prawns to the pan and cook for 3-4 min until they turn pink and opaque.
- Stir in the soy sauce, sesame oil, and ground black pepper. Cook for an additional 1-2 min.
- Remove the pan from heat and let the prawn mixture cool slightly.
- To serve, take a lettuce leaf and spoon some of the prawn mixture into the center.
- Top with diced cucumber and red bell pepper, and sprinkle with chopped coriander if using.
- Wrap the lettuce around the filling and enjoy!
Notes
- Ensure prawns are thoroughly cooked and pink before serving.
- Adjust the amount of garlic according to taste preferences.
