Italian Herb Focaccia with Olive Oil Dip
A flavorful Italian snack featuring soft, herb-infused focaccia bread served with a delicious olive oil dip for a unique and enjoyable experience.
Ingredients
- 500g all-purpose flour
- 10g instant yeast
- 10g sea salt
- 300ml warm water
- 50ml olive oil (plus extra for drizzling)
- 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Fresh herbs for garnish (optional)
Method
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, instant yeast, sea salt, dried rosemary, dried oregano, and garlic powder.
- Pour in the warm water and olive oil, mixing until a sticky dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 min until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hr or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 220°C (428°F).
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a greased baking tray, spreading it out to fill the tray.
- Use your fingers to create dimples all over the surface, drizzle with olive oil, and sprinkle with additional herbs if desired.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 min or until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before slicing.
What to serve with it
- Sliced cucumbers with a pinch of salt
- Fresh mozzarella balls drizzled with olive oil
- Olives of various types (green, black, etc.)
